Message from the President

Marion County Nurses!

Family Practice Potpourri, Encore will be at the Ewer Center on May 16. Please participate, as not sure if we are going to be doing any more.  FNA is likely to reorganize after the September 09 convention, dissolving the districts.  We will be absorbed into a 'region' and district 3 will be no more.  stay tuned...

We had two conferences last year:  a short one in the Fall, and a full day conference in the Spring.  With vendor support and tuition money from the last two years, we were able  contribute $ 5000 to the CFCC student nurses scholarship (nursing students in good standing at CFCC) and $5000 to the FNF FNA District 3 Scholarship Fund, which gives preference to BSN generic students from Marion county attending Florida universities.  We are doing what we can to help make new nurses!

All nursing students are encouraged to check out the scholarships that we have worked so hard to help create.

We are always looking for nurses who want to seriously promote professionalism in nursing, so call if you want to volunteer.  We will graciously figure out how to make the best use of your skills, money, or contacts, within YOUR local association.

.Mary J. S. Clark, RN/ARNP

President, Florida Nurses Association District 3

Mission

Marion County Nurses Association (MCNA) is a professional organization dedicated to promoting the health and welfare of our community.  Our energies are primarily directed at advancing the art and science of nursing through education and other health related activities.  MCNA is an extension of the local district of the Florida Nurses Association, with leadership provided by the core organization, the Florida Nurses Association District 3.      The Florida Nurses Association (FNA) as a constituent of the American Nurses Association is the only nursing organization representing ALL of nursing regardless of specialty or practice area.  FNA speaks on behalf of nursing in Tallahassee as well as before many regulatory bodies. FNA is a strong voice for the nurses of Florida fueled by the strength and commitment of the professional nurses who comprise our membership.  For additional information, please access the FNA website at www.floridanurse.org.

Purpose

The purpose of this organization is to provide opportunities to network with other nurses.  We foster the development of one voice in concerns common to all nurses and provides a vehicle to express our concerns via community activities.  We seek to provide opportunities to recognize the unique contribution of nursing to the health and safety of our community.  We provide educational activities for local nurses, community education, nursing scholarship contributions, and support the mission of the Florida Nurses Association.
